Mark Keam
Mark Keam is a public servant who has devoted his life to serving others and advancing causes greater than his own. As the son of a missionary who took the family to three countries in his youth, Mark’s global upbringing taught him to respect and seek to understand people of other cultures.
While he did not follow his father’s professional path, Mark’s passion for service led him to a career as a public servant and an organizational manager. He has held a variety of leadership roles in the government, nonprofit, and the private sector.
In government, Keam was appointed by two Presidents of the United States to serve in policymaking roles. He was also appointed by two Virginia Governors on state advisory boards. Additionally, Mark was a top legal and policy advisor to an Assistant Leader of the United States Senate.
For seven two-year terms, Keam represented Fairfax County in the Virginia House of Delegates, rising in ranks to serve as chair and vice chair of committees. Keam co-chaired the bipartisan, bicameral Legislative Prayer Caucus, and took part in the programs of annual Commonwealth Prayer Breakfasts. Mark was the first immigrant born in Asia to be elected to any state-level office in Virginia.
He currently leads a research and policy think tank in Washington, DC, and serves on the boards of several businesses and nonprofit organizations.
Active in the community, Mark volunteers with numerous organizations and causes that focus on his passions: civic engagement, mentoring youth and developing emerging leaders, promoting literacy and lifelong learning, and advocating for immigrants, minorities, women, military veterans, and the disabled to create a more equitable society.
Mark and his wife live in Vienna, and have two adult children who live in the area.
